Youth Employment Opportunity: Youth Ni Hat'ni Dene Guardians

The Thaidene Nëné Department’s Ni Hat’ni Dene program is hiring 4 youth guardians for the summer. The youth guardians will work alongside the Ni Hat’ni Dene guardians. These positions are located in Łutsël K’é.
 

​Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Monitoring water quality, fish, and other wildlife within the Thaidene Nëné Indigenous Protected Area.
  • Acting as ambassadors for Thaidene Nëné, and welcoming and engaging visitors in the Indigenous protected area.
  • Providing orientation, information, and interpretation on the natural and cultural history of Łutsël K’é Dene lands.
  • Delivering visitor surveys.
  • Welcoming visitors to Łutsël K’é, Kaché, and the Ni Hat’ni Dene cabins.
  • Taking care of the old village at Kaché (includes maintaining cabins, cleaning up garbage, and cutting wood).
  • Maintaining records of activities and travel routes.
 
Qualifications:
  • Must be a youth (15-30 years old).
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Experience working with youth and children.
  • Must be physically fit.
  • Knowledge of LKDFN natural and cultural heritage is an asset.
  • Ability to speak and/or understand the Dënesųłıné language is an asset.
  • Experience operating boats is an asset.
